If we want everybody to access information, regardless of their personal profile – culture, language and (dis)ability, we need to provide alternative means for the person to engage with the message. This means thinking about compensation for each port of entry (sense)… if it is spoken, turn it into writing; if it is written, turn it into speech; if the message is visual, make it aural or tactile; if the lettera are small, turn them into big font and bold; if the text is complex, rewrite it so that it becomes easy reading; if needed, turn it into another (written or sign) language or turn it into Braille or pictograms… there is always an alternative!
