Summary

The proposals contained in this practical guide are the result of several research with practical application in real contexts – cinema, theater, museums, spaces and cultural manifestations – involving scholars and national and foreign professionals, among whom stand out specialists linked to audiovisual translation, producers and directors of multimedia products/actions, students from various postgraduate courses
in Portugal, United Kingdom, Spain and Italy, and members of the community blind in Portugal. The integration of knowledge and experiences, as well as the hard work and monitoring of the various research-action processes, allow you to see this style guide/book as a tool for work for all those who strive to create conditions for access to communication and culture for persons with blindness or low vision.

These guidelines are generally applicable to audio description of film texts, in any broadcast context (television, cinema, DVD, realmedia,…); web products or multimedia; heritage and cultural spaces (museums, gardens, public spaces, …); live artistic events (theater, dance, opera, concerts, …); and everyday realities, while
promoters of leisure and formal and informal teaching/learning.
